So I really suck about updating lately. Life has been chaotic, to say the least, and winter break cannot come soon enough. (Unfortunately, Thanksgiving never really does much for me, and as I'm going to be spending "break" this year doing law school applications, it's not going to be fun at all). For now, I'm not thinking about that, and am instead focusing on the happiest parts of the last few weeks: Pride and Prejudice and Goblet of Fire. I was expecting to maybe like P&P, but I LOVED it. Keira Knightley was wonderful, and my love for Matthew MacFayden is only increasing with time. (Between the scene with the gloves, the walk across the field, and the end I have enough "swoon material" to last me for months.) It was beautifully done, and is making me spend time I don't have reading the book, but I'm ok with that. For someone who hates girly books/movies, I can't say enough good things about this.
Went to a midnight showing of Goblet of Fire with Anna last night. Got there early, which was good, except for the fact that we had to stand outside for an hour. That was unfortunate and I don't think my lungs are going to recover for quite some time. I had so many reservations about Mike Newell, but he outdid himself. It was the best movie of the four - both the funniest and the scariest, and really "real" and sad. I was impressed. The kids are coming into their own as actors, and the fact that the stories are getting better helps too. I was kind of upset they cut Harry learning how to resist the Imperius curse, because I think that really shows his strengths rather than all the weaknesses they showed, but I understand why. Other cuts didn't really bother me (except for Ron asking for Krum's autograph, that's such a good moment). I think it flowed really well and the added scene of Snape beating up Ron and Harry in study hall was great. Yeah, that's it. I'm trying to resist the temptation to go to Chinatown to get copies to hold me over until the real DVDs come out. I also might be spending significant amounts of time in the next two weeks rewatching both those movies.
